I've been slowly working on shiny pets, but it gets frustrating. I can't get into high graphics mode anymore for some reason, so can't get the full shiny effects, just the color difference. I don't know if this is just a waste of time, and I should wait, or not.
Hi, Db. How have things been going? I hope things weren't too tough in basic training … not. lol Let me know what's going on.
I just recently got word of an upcoming update. Hopefully it will be a major one, but at the same time that will mean a LOT of work here. I do have a "fleet" of friends in the game who provide information, such as the stats of various items, as they obtain them and level them up. I've also had inactive staff return active status, so hopefully will have enough help to get things up in a timely fashion.
I've also started a couple projects recently, as well as working on other things as I see them. More needs to be done than I initially thought.
Hey! I got home night before last, but not in the way I wanted to come home (medically separated). :( It wasn't as tough as I thought, but it was definitely a unique experience. I can try again in six months, though. I'm not sure what needs done around here these days, but if you send me a list of things, I can try to knock them out.
The worst part is that my division is graduating on the 19th...feelsbad.
Aww, that's a shame. Especially so close to graduation!
I recently started working on pages for shops. I don't know how far to go with the project, but was planning on creating page for each one. I have a main page for them that still needs work. I'm not sure the best way to set it up, probably with tabs rather than the way it is now. If you can took a look and see what you think I'd appreciate it.
I think it's about time for a new poll to go up on the home page, with the result shown for this one. You're welcome to do that, if you'd like.
I do have a couple blogs with to-do lists. The latest one is more up to date.
Db, I think I'd like to go ahead an try out this AbuseFilter. This morning I had to go through and delete a lot more of those links on BGS wiki, but they were scattered over many pages. It involved blocking at least 4 individuals. As you can imagine, this was rather time consuming. I'd rather avoid this happening here more than it already has, as well as seeing the effectiveness of the tool. Hopefully it is something I would be able to recommend to Beckaaa.
I'm haing trouble understanding everything on the installation guide, as well as not knowing where everything is located in the wiki that would need to be changed. Also, do I even have the "rights" to make these changes?
Download and place the file(s) in a directory called AbuseFilter in your extensions/ folder.
Run Composer to install PHP dependencies, by issuing composer install --no-dev in the extension directory. (SeeT173141 for potential complications.)
Add the following code at the bottom of your LocalSettings.php: wfLoadExtension( 'AbuseFilter' );
Run the update script which will automatically create the necessary database tables that this extension needs.
Done – Navigate to Special:Version on your wiki to verify that the extension is successfully installed.
To users running MediaWiki 1.26 or earlier:
The instructions above describe the new way of installing this extension using wfLoadExtension() If you need to install this extension on these earlier versions (MediaWiki 1.26 and earlier), instead of wfLoadExtension( 'AbuseFilter' );, you need to use:
Sorry, I have no experience or knowledge regarding this. =[ It might be best to ask in Community Central. Admin has all of the rights available to non-FANDOM staff excluding the ability to appoint other admins. Anything beyond your power is also beyond mine.
It's a scam link. I'm not sure what it does, but I have a friend who clicked a link that sounded like an official Roblox site. Her account got hacked, password changed, she lost access and the account. I'm not sure if this is the same one, but it came out around the same time.
I had seen quite a few here, but BGS was getting really swamped with it. It appears they might have it under control now, with the last mentioned comment.
Db, thank you so much for all the work you've recently put in here. It's helped me out tremendously. I'll be taking a close look at all the source codes to see how everything was done. Not that I know much about them yet, but I do have plans on working on that soon.
No problem! Sorry I'm not on much these days. If you have any questions about it, feel free to ask me! :D (I leave for basic training on the the 21st, but until then I can help where needed. Also, if you want b.crat before then, let me know.)
Can you check out this AbuseFilter and see if you can do anything with it. With my lack of computer savvy it seems a bit confusing, and I don't want to do too much experimenting. This is help I asked for from a Fandom MS wiki manager. I was planning on contacting you on you on discord.
Technobliterator "On this wiki, one thing you can do is install AbuseFilter. It's a neat little feature that basically gives you access to a specialpage from which you can make it impossible for people to save an edit if they're an IP address and include the term "/robloxeaster" in their edit. You can enable this through Special:Contact/general. That's normally a good way to deal with it. For other wikis, the hope is the local community can deal with it (possibly through AbuseFilter also) or that VSTF can take care of it."
It's been hitting hard. I deleted over 20 last night on BGS wiki alone, scattered throughout the pet pages. I've done the same here, but a stream of them on the Codes page, and they keep popping up periodically. Basically, a few here and there aren't too bad, especially with so little activity, but still....
It doesn't seem like it will do much more than blocking the IP address, other than be specific about certain words/phrases. Plus it sounds like I'd still have to use it on individual members, if I understand it right.
So disabling comments sounds like a better idea, particularly on pages like Codes. Most comments there aren't really necessary, anyway.
